Mike Wiegele – Albreda Lodge
As this operator’s northernmost location, the Mike Wiegele – Albreda Lodge serves as a launchpad for the company’s most challenging and exotic terrain. With a fewer number of skiers, you’ll have more terrain all to yourself. If you’re looking to score big lines and experience a landscape you’ve never dreamed of, this is the place to be.
Considered the “crown Jewel of the Monashees”, the lodge is a beautifully designed European-inspired building that encourages skiers to relax, unwind, and pamper themselves. With unbeatable skiing variety and world-class amenities, this location is easily a bucket list item.
Mike Wiegele – Albreda Lodge: Facts & FAQ
As a separate destination from Mike Wiegele’s main Blue River Resort, additional travel is necessary to arrive at Albreda Lodge. Fortunately, this operator will handle the transportation from their main facility. To arrive at Blue River, a few travel stages are necessary.
First, skiers should fly into Vancouver or Calgary International Airport. From there, they’ll need to catch a connecting flight to the smaller Kamloops Airport, with daily flights being offered via Air Canada and WestJet. Once in Kamloops, guests will need to rent a car to transport themselves to Blue River Lodge. This is a 2.5-hour drive along mountainous roads. However, if a 7-day package was booked, Mike Wiegele will provide transportation from a variety of hotels in Kamloops.
The Albreda Lodge is unique in that everything is found in one building, unlike Blue River Resort. From your room to the dining area, you’ll never have to endure cold walks to disconnected buildings. The Albreda Lodge features 17 private rooms and two double occupancy rooms, making it ideal for private heliskiing excursions.
While staying here, there’s a variety of amenities to enjoy, including:
- Chef-prepared meals and world-class wines
- Fitness room and climbing wall
- Sauna
- In-house massage therapist
As mentioned, the Mike Wiegele – Albreda Lodge is meant for the more advanced skiers coming to the area. There’s much more extreme terrain found in this area of the Monashees, including deeper powder. Despite this, you’ll still have access to three distinct mountain ranges: the Cariboos, Monashees, and Northern Rockies.
Much of the terrain at this location can be accessed quickly. Paired with their unlimited vertical packages, you’re sure to score countless high-intensity runs every day of your trip.
Because of the commitment to more advanced skiing at Albreda Lodge, this location is ideal for individuals that want a private experience, are looking to ski as much as possible, or both. Included in all packages are powder skis and avalanche gear. A significant benefit of Mike Wiegele is that they offer cat skiing as backup on no-fly days.
Package options include:
- Elite 7 Day: Includes unlimited vertical with a guarantee of 100,000 vertical feet over the course of the week.
- Private Bell 212 / A-Star: Exclusive helicopter use for either 8 skiers (Bell 212) or 4 skiers (A-Star).
- Semi-Private A-Star: Similar to the private package except that you will share the helicopter with an additional group.
