Arctic Elements - Sweden

Arctic Elements SwedenHeli skiing in the Scandanavian Arctic provides unparalleled adventure with perfectly customizable ski packages.  Arctic Elements is has been operating in Sweden since 2004.  Located in the town of Riksfransen, right on the border with Norway, you will start your heli ski adventure 200 miles north of the Arctic circle in the remote wilderness of The Scandes, which is just another name for "the Scandanavian mountains".

While The Scandes are not as high as The Alps, they do include some of the world's steepest peaks. And with a wilderness of over 8000 km is at your disposal, including some of the highest peaks in Scandanavia towering at up to 2100 meters high, the helicopters and guides from Arctic Elements Sweden can access over 100 peaks with with vertical drops between 600-1500 meters, totally customized to your group.

Facts & FAQ

Tenure and Terrain

The Arctic Elements heliski team chose Riksgränsen as their home base due to the unique combination of untouched mountain wilderness and proximity to the nearest airport. With over 8,000 square kilometers of pristine mountain wilderness, and some of the highest peaks in Europe, you can access up to 100 different peaks, some reaching as high as 2,100 meters. All that vertical rise means runs from 600 - 1500 meters long, customized to your group, with the potential of up to 7,000-8,000 total vertical meters each day!

Arctic Elements operates using the Agusta Westland Koala 119 helicopter with a passenger capacity of 6 clients.  They also use the AS 350 (A-star) helicopter with a passenger capacity of 4 clients.  Both birds have the ability to get you quickly to the mountain , combining safety and comfort with speed and performance.

Packages and Accommodations

In Riksgransen, you will stay at the The Meteorologen Ski Lodge, also know as The Metro,  a century-old building which formerly housed a meterology station.  Recently updated, it is now a small boutique hotel with double rooms, some single rooms, and some with fireplaces.  Free wifi is available in all rooms.

The Metro has an indoor swimming pool, saunas and outdoor hot tubs.  Massages can also be booked through The Metro Spa Center. The Metro has an on site restaurant and bar all meals are included with both the semi-private and private heliski packages.

Heli Ski Packages with Arctic Elements can be booked based upon the number of days that you wish to ski.  A 3-day package includes 2.5 hours of helicopter time.  A 4-day package will get. you 5 hours of heli time and a 7-day package allows for 7.5 hours on the helicopter. get

If you choose semi-private package, you will be sharing the heliopter with another group with between 4 to 6 people. With a private package, Artic Elements provides a greater opportunity to customize your trip with greater freedom to reach those more remote places and areas where they normally don't go.

A private tour means you and your group with have the helicopter to yourselves for maximum ski time and maximum flexibility.

Things To Do on No-Fly Days
The mountain town of Riksgransen in Northern Sweden has an abundance of winter activities if the weather temporarily grounds the helicopters for skiing.  Consider trying Ice Climbing, Ice Kiting, Snowmobiling, or dog sledding. Or maybe try your hand at Norwegian speed boating through the fjords with snow covered mountains jutting into the water. And of course, ski touring and lift-access skiing is available at the small and funky Riksgransen Ski Resort.
Getting There

Since the town of Riksgransen is located in the mountains on the border between Norway and Sweden, you can choose to fly into either Narvik/Harstad airport in Norway and then drive about 1.5 hours to Riksgransen.  Or, you can fly into Kiruna in Sweden and drive about 2 hours.  You can also travel by train from Stockholm to Bjorkliden which is about a 15 hour ride so if you choose this mode of transportation, be sure to purchase a ticket for the sleeping car.

One unique feature of Artic Elements heli ski is that private jet service is available through The Aviation Company to take you "door to door".  When booking your trip, please inquire with the Artic Elements for more information on this exclusive service.
