Heli Nord AdventureHeli skiing in Sweden is super accessible with HeliNord, an operator based in the small village of Kittelfjall, Sweden, North of Stockholm, close to the border of Norway. In operation since 1983, HeliNord is the oldest and most experienced operation in Scandanavia.  The owner of the company, Börje Marklund claims to be one of the most experienced Scandinavian pilots when it comes to helicopter skiing in Sweden.  Located in the epicenter of heli skiing in Sweden, close to a large area of accessible peaks and varied terrain, HeliNord is both affordable and convenient, for the first time heli-skier and the most experienced.

With such a long history of heli skiing in Sweden, HeliNord ensures the opportunity to ski the best terrain in the region.  These guides KNOW these mountains! With over a dozen local peaks to explore, and with runs up to 1000 vertical meters in length, your powder adventure awaits with HeliNord.

Börje and his team take pride in making your heli ski vacation comfortable and fun.  They go out of their way to provide hospitality and take seriously their responsibility to show you a good time!

Facts & FAQ

Packages and Accommodations

The Classic Drop-In Package is an affordable, one day opportunity to introduce yourself to the heli ski experience in the mountains of Kittelfjall, Sweden.  In a Bell long range helicopter, your group of 4 will have the option to ski 3 or 5 summits and you will pay accordingly.  3 summits will cost less than 5, making the Class Drop-In Package an excellent and cost-effective way to try out heli skiing with lots of options.   You can choose a mellow pace or a faster pace.  You can choose to travel alone or with a group.  If you are not traveling with a group, HeliNord can assist in grouping you with others of your same ability.

The VIP Elite Package runs Thursday through Saturday and includes 3 night's accommodations.  You will ski 10 of the best summits in the Kittelfjord mountains, using a Bell long range helicopter.  Your group will consist of 5 skiiers with one guide at your disposal for the entirety of your trip.

The VIP Powder Package is the ultimate heli ski trip in Sweden.  Together with 5 of your friends, you get 5 night's accommodations and 15 helicopter lifts in the Bell long range bird.  With your own private helicopter and teamed with our lead guide, the mountains are yours for the taking.  You can ski pretty much anywhere you want for as long as you want.

And if you want to include all your meals and airport transfers to your VIP Powder Plan, HeliNord offers the "All Inclusive VIP Vacation" which ups the accommodations to 6 nights and includes 1-2 guides with 15 helicopter lifts.

HeliNord has 3 cabins in Kittelfjall available for booking.  Each cabin sleeps 6 and are available from March to May. Each cabin has a fireplace, a kitchen, an outdoor bbq area and internet/TV.

Terrain and Tenure

Kittelfjall is so centrally located and has such consistent snow pack that accessing amazing terrain is guaranteed.  With 10 nearby mountain peaks, the helicopter will land in the open alpine providing several choices for descents including long wide turns and narrow tree line runs.

With over 30 years experience as a heli ski operator in Sweden, HeliNord's guides know this area.  For first time heli skiiers, your guide will provide the ultimate introduction to this addicting sport.  For experts, steep runs with 1000 vertical meters await you.  For tree skiiers, deep snow protected from the elements is hiding in the forests of Daunafjall.

HeliNord uses 3 helicopters - 2 Bell Long Range helicopters and 1 Alouette III helicopter which accomodate 5 guests and 1 guide per bird.

Getting There

Kittelfjall is located about 500 miles north of Stockholm in The Scandas, the Scandanavian mountains in Northern Sweden. Kittelfjall is part of a string of small, authentic mountain villages located along the border of Sweden and Norway, below the Arctic Circle. From Stockholm, you will take a flight to Hemavan, which is the closest airport about 65 km away.  You can also fly into Vilhelmina which is 97 km away.

Transfers to Kittelfjall area available via bus, taxi or car.

Accommodations and Packages

Once you arrive in Kittelfjäl, you’ll enjoy the scenic ski town and the surrounding mountains. If you booked a package that includes lodgings, then you’ll check into one of their cabins, which have everything you need to stay comfortable in the snow.

All guests will be provided with transceivers, probes, and shovels to stay safe while on the slopes.

Thanks to the local hospitality, the beautiful mountains, and plentiful snow, you’ll feel like you’re heli skiing Norway even though you’re so close...in Sweden! Just like Norway, Kittelfjäll can be hit by hard weather which makes it impossible to heliski. If that happens during your trip, you’ll have the choice of skiing at the local ski area, taking a snowmobile adventure, or fishing for trout and char in nearby lakes.
