Patagonia Heli Ski
Patagonia heliskiing is relatively unknown by the skiing community, and it’s only in recent years that the region has been placed on the snow sports map.
Patagonia features dramatic landscapes with geological backdrops, glacial features, and a southern hemisphere winter season. Numerous resorts are in the region as well, making Patagonia a prime destination for skiers looking to expand their travel portfolio.

World-Class Travel Ideas!
Skiing and heli skiing Patagonia from June to September can be a great "summer skiing fix" for those living in the Northern Hemisphere! This recommendation is from my fried Barney who's been to Valle Nevado in Chile several times. Ski the mountains and then head for the desert! "After a week of skiing we really enjoyed the Atacama Desert. A significant, yet welcome contrast to the mountains, and we liked our accommodations!"
Facts & FAQ
Patagonia’s skiing terrain is characterized by the Andes Mountains, an ancient range that runs the length of the Western side of South America.
As the second-highest mountain range in the world, you can expect staggering cliffs and above-average snowfall. All their terrain is above the tree line, meaning you’ll have an assortment of high alpine features like chutes, couloirs, and spines to explore. Typically, the season ranges from June to September, with more affordable prices found earlier on.
You'll be at altitude! Recall that you're in the shadow of Aconcagua, the Americas highest peak at 22,837'. The terrain may bring with it...the wind. Prepare yourself. This isn't like heli skiing in British Columbia...at all!
Besides heli skiing, Patagonia is a beautiful and culturally rich place that makes for an excellent vacation. Nature is particularly abundant here, and the entire region is an outdoor paradise. Torres del Paine National Park is a huge attraction for recreationists and hikers, offering gorgeous views of turquoise glacial lakes. In the southern portion of Chile, you can also go wildlife viewing and catch a glimpse of a penguin colony.
As always, resort skiing is a popular activity. There are several ski resorts spread across the region, all of which offer a completely unique experience to other portions of the world. If you own an Ikon Pass, up to 5 days at Valle Nevado are included.
