Heli Ski Alpes - Italy
Unless you’re a professional skier or snowboarder, then you’re likely to only get a handful of opportunities to go heli skiing. So when you do get your chance, you’ll need to make every second on the snow count! That’s exactly what the Heliski Alpes can do for their clients who want to ski in the Italian Alps.
The Alps have long been known as the proving ground for skiers, snowboarders, and mountaineers from all over the world thanks to their steep technical slopes and dramatic peaks. As a result, there are endless lines to choose from when skiing and snowboarding there. With all the available options as your peer down the mountain to chose the right line while executing your descent, you need the right guide to keep you safe.
Heliski Alpes appears to partner with High Mountain Guides, run by Rob Jarvis, which specializes in doing just that.
Facts & FAQ
The Heliski Alpes teams their helicopter crews and pilots with High Mountain Guides, so the best expertise is on the mountain to help keep the clients from making terrain mistakes that may be dangerous. The goals is safety first! All their combined experience in the Italian Alps also means they know the less frequented peaks and drops just as well as the most popular ones. With that knowledge, they can tailor your day trip to skiing classic lines just as well as descents that may be slightly less accessible and more challenging for the right group.
The team at Heli Ski Alpes also has the knowledge to keep your heli skiing trip from being impeded by regulations. Heli skiing is not legal in all of Europe, most notably France. Properly planned itineraries are a must when trying to get the most out of your day!
For example, you can stay in Chamonix, France while flying to and heli skiing in Courmayeur, Gressoney and Valgrisenche - all great locations in Italy!
Each of Heliski Alpes’ destinations has its own unique conditions and terrain so you can choose that which matches your style best. Courmayeur is a classic Alps destination since it has beautiful lines and views of Mont Blanc, while Valgrisenche offers more wilderness and quiet slopes with a warm après scene in the nearby towns.
All Italian heli skiing trips with Heliski Alpes begin with a flight into Geneva International Airport which is only 30 minutes away from Chamonix and its many lodgings.
Guests are provided with avalanche safety gear, but must either rent or use their own working airbag before heading into the mountains.
When the weather doesn’t allow the helicopters to take off, the Heli Ski Alpes team can still get you on the snow.
They have access to cable cars that drop riders off to get great lines. There are also several ski resorts in the area that will fill your need to ski with fun groomed terrain.
