Facts & FAQ
While there are four main airports surrounding the Aspen area, all require significant additional travel to reach your destination. The easiest way to get to Aspen is by booking a connecting flight from one of these airports to Aspen-Pitkin County Airport. This airport is located just 10 minutes from downtown, making arrival an absolute breeze.
Aspen Heli Skiing operates a private helipad out of Aspen-Pitkin County Airport. Try to arrive before 9 am on the morning of your heliskiing excursion to obtain a full day of skiing.
Aspen Heli Skiing is not an all-inclusive operator, meaning they do not provide you with accommodation. Only single-day packages are available, so lodging is the responsibility of the skier. Fortunately, the greater Aspen area is filled with high-end options for the high-rolling traveler. Some of the most popular include:
- The St. Regis Aspen Resort
- The Little Nell
- Aspen Meadows Resort
Once you’ve boarded your private 8-person helicopter in Aspen, you’ll make a 45-minute flight to the backcountry zone, located in the San Juan Mountains. This mountain range is often regarded as having the best, deepest snowpack in Colorado. Its high altitude means that powder can stay fresh on top for weeks on end.
Aspen Heliskiing is a niche, novel operator, and skis in a smaller amount of terrain compared to other companies. Despite this, the 26,000 acres that they do have permitted access to are of extremely high quality. As a private operator, your guides and pilot will be 100% committed to your group’s desires, and they’ll be able to bring you to terrain that’s as forgiving or as challenging as you wish. Just say the word and you’ll be whisked away to the zone you want to be in.
Aspen Heliskiing runs 7 days a week from November 22nd through Mid-March and is committed to making the experience accessible to anyone staying in the Aspen area. With a focus on premium and private day trips, booking a trip with them is a fantastic way to make a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you, your friends, and your family.
A heliskiing package can be purchased on an individual basis, or as an entire group. While the Bell 212 can only fit up to 8 guests, additional helicopters can be reserved as well, even for those that aren’t interested in skiing. Cat skiing is not available as an alternative on down-days.
