Bighorn Revelstoke
Bighorn is unique in the regard that it is not its own heli skiing operation. Instead, this extremely luxurious 15,000 sq. foot, 8 stateroom property functions as the launchpad, in coordination with three different heli skiing operators in Revelstoke. As a partner to these operations, Bighorn offers ultra high-end accommodations that more than rival the most affluent hotels in the area. With direct access to both resort skiing and extreme backcountry terrain, this stunning property is in the best of both worlds.
If you value refined comfort on your skiing adventures, Bighorn Revelstoke is the cream of the crop. Settle into your mega-plush accommodations and ski some of the most pristine heli skiing terrain found in the world.
Facts & FAQ
Bighorn’s location is second to none. Situated just meters from the base of Revelstoke Mountain Resort, you’ll benefit from close amenities and socialization, on top of world-class skiing. Heli skiing doesn’t have to be a desolate, remote excursion if you don’t want it to be.
To travel to Revelstoke, it’s recommended that visitors fly into Kelowna International Airport. While it’s 2.5 hours away from the lodge, the Stoke Shuttle runs 7 times per day in the winter, providing you direct access to downtown Revelstoke for a nominal fee.
If you're staying here...odds are strong you're flying in on a heli from Kelowna.
Bighorn has "reset the bar" for ultra-luxury heli skiing accommodations. This extraordinary property is the creation of the Kirkland family, of Bowmer & Kirkland, a huge UK construction concern.
Bighorn has been voted the “World’s Best Ski Chalet” at the World Ski Awards four times. As North America’s first full-service private retreat, you can expect accommodations and amenities that are hand tailored to you. You’ll find eight roomy guest suites - staterooms, all outfitted with a private bathroom and a breathtaking balcony. Amenities that you can expect include:
- Private cinema with a large movie collection
- Billiard room with the latest games and game consoles
- Wellness area including sauna and massages & exercise pool
- Outdoor hot tub with stunning views
- Formal and casual dining room settings
- Private helipad
All ability levels are accommodated at Bighorn. In total, between the three operators that service the chalet, over 1.2 million acres of terrain is yours for the taking. The Revelstoke region is world-renowned for its skiing quality, especially in the backcountry. You’ll find an immense variety of challenging and scenic terrain that suits all types of skiers.
This region of British Columbia is primarily known for its tree skiing. While you won’t find towering glacial steeps that you might see in Alaska, you will experience the steep wilderness. Trees are perfectly spaced, allowing for high-speed runs that remain safe. Beyond the trees, there are still acres upon acres of high-elevation skiing and wide-open bowls.
Bighorn does not offer heli skiing packages itself, just the accommodations. Three local heli skiing operators utilize the property for guest stays and as a helipad. Packages can differ based on the operator, but all are private. Most heliskiing companies will fly an A-Star helicopter for small groups of up to 4 people. These operators are:
- Eagle Pass Heliski
- Selkirk Tangiers
- Canadian Mountain Holidays - CMH Revelstoke
Luckily, if you ever experience a down day flying with these operators, you’ll have plenty of additional activities available. Both cat skiing and touring can be found with other local companies, and Revelstoke Mountain Resort is an exceptional destination for long vertical descents and piste skiing.
