Bella Coola Eagle Lodge
Ideal for social skiers who value personal connection as much as their skiing experience, Eagle Lodge is a friendly, welcoming destination in the Bella Coola Heli Sports portfolio. While not the highest-end offering out of all their destinations, you’ll still find comfortable hotel-style accommodations. Allowing room for large groups, you’re bound to make friendships at this location that will persist for life.
Even if that’s not enough, you’ll still relish in the outstanding terrain and snowfall that’s a staple of Western B.C., as well as stress-reducing amenities that’ll make you forget about your life away from the mountains. For many, Bella Coola Eagle Lodge is their “home away from home.”
Bella Coola Eagle Lodge: Facts & FAQ
As with all Bella Coola Heli Sports locations, you’ll first fly into Vancouver International Airport. This well-known airport is directly accessed by many major airports across North America, making trip booking easy. After flying here, you’ll need to board a second, smaller flight to the regional Bella Coola Airport (QBC). This will take you on a 70-minute flight to your final destination. Alternatively, depending on the weather, you may fly into Anaheim Lake Airport.
After arriving in Bella Coola, Eagle Lodge takes care of the rest. They’ll provide an included shuttle service from the airport to the lodge – a quick 5-minute drive to Hagensborg. If you had to fly into Anaheim Lake, a 2-hour 20-minute ground transfer will be arranged.
From the exterior, Bella Coola Eagle Lodge may just look like one long house. Inside, you’ll be wowed by the beautiful modern interior. In hotel style, you’ll be boarded with your room connected to one main hallway. This greatly contributes to the social nature of the location. Able to accommodate up to 12 guests, the lodge is divided into 5 double-occupancy rooms and 4 single-occupancy rooms (additional charge).
While here, you’ll benefit from these amenities:
- Lounge with billiards table and bar service
- Fitness facility and stretching room
- Massage room
- Cedar barrel sauna
- 10-person outdoor hot tub
- Communal-style farmhouse table dining
Eagle Lodge accommodates all levels of backcountry skiers, even those that have never skied powder before. With this in mind, it’s still recommended to be able to ski at a confident ability level. Your guides will also provide safety training concerning avalanches, so no prior experience is necessary in this regard.
Eagle Lodge is Bella Coola Heli Sport’s Northernmost location, but it has the same terrain offerings as all their destinations. You’ll have access to 3.55 million acres of landscape with every type of feature you can find. From scarily pitched steeps and glacial spines to gentle and meandering glades, the Coast Mountains that this operator flies in are home to an ideal selection of terrain.
As a specialist in small group heli skiing, Bella Coola Eagle Lodge will never fly with more than 6 guests in a single helicopter. Of which, you’ll be flying in a Koala AW119, known for its maneuverability and nimbleness. Included in all packages is a vertical guarantee and a return flight ticket to Vancouver.
Eagle Lodge only has one package available:
- Small-Group Heli Skiing: With a choice of 4,5, or 7 nights, this package is ideal for skiers in the strong to expert range. It’s available all season long and 7-day packages come with a 100,000 ft vertical. This is no limit in vertical on a day-to-day basis. Down-day activities like cat skiing are not available.
