Powder South Heli Guides - Argentina
Powder South Heli Ski Guides has a long and respected reputation in South America that goes back to 2002. Founded by an IFMGA/UIAGM certified mountain guide and a former Olympic skier, the duo first set operational roots in Chile. At the time, most helicopter skiing operators were simply bringing people to runs right outside of the resort. This company charted new lines and subsequently named nearly all the runs experienced by heliskiers in Chile today.
Years later, the pair expanded to Argentina, where they spread their knowledge of the industry and passion for the mountains. Operating since 2015, Powder South Heli Ski Guides Argentina is now the pinnacle of heliskiing luxury and adventure in the greater Argentinian region.

For many Northern Hemisphere skiers, it can be difficult to picture the type of terrain they’ll be experiencing. Between Chile and Argentina, this operator has thousands of hectares of terrain, all in the Andes Mountains. Their location in Argentina takes place on the Eastern side of this range, where a large variety of terrain exists – much of it alpine. Large, open bowls are commonplace, but there’s also a healthy amount of extreme features like chutes and spines. On average, you’ll be skiing between 6,000 and 14,000 feet, all aboard an A-Star B3 or Bell 407.
Powder South Heli Ski Guides Argentina has a long season, with packages starting in June and culminating in September. All packages have a skier-to-guide ratio of 4:1, keeping the experience small and enjoyable for any level of skier. While the snowpack is relatively stable in Argentina, an avalanche airbag system is provided as well. As far as down-days go, this operator averages 5 fly days out of every 6 available. While they do not personally offer alternatives, cat skiing may be available with other companies in the region.
Visitors have the choice of three distinct package options:
- 3-Day: This shorter package includes 4 nights of accommodations and 10 hours of flight time. One helicopter is shared between two groups of four.
- Semi-Private Week: The week-long package includes 6 days of skiing, 7 days of accommodations, 14 flight hours, and a shared helicopter with another group.
- Private Week: Although this package includes exclusive helicopter use, the flight time is shorter at 12 hours for the week.
