Majestic Heliski
Majestic Heliski has the rare fortune of being owned and operated by a helicopter pilot and guide. Njord Rota founded Majestic after a career in ski patrol and in the U.S. Army as a test pilot. He and his team of guides make the seasonal pilgrimage every year to the Chugach Mountains where they lead hundreds of eager heli skiers looking for a jaw-dropping experience.
With a staff-to-skier ratio of 1:1, you’ll receive personalized attention at Majestic Heli Skiing Alaska. Luxurious amenities, a plethora of package options, and world-class, adrenalizing terrain are all part of the norm here.
Facts & FAQ
A significant advantage of booking with Majestic Heli Skiing Alaska is the relatively easy access to their base. Anchorage International Airport (ANC) is the closest place you can fly into, with many direct flights from major airports across the United States.
Once you touch down, getting to Majestic Heli Skiing Alaska is a breeze. If you’re booking a multi-day package, the operator includes direct transportation with the price. You’ll board a shuttle and take a short 2-hour drive East along AK-1 to Sutton, where the main lodge is located.
All packages of two days or more will have the luxury of being lodged at Majestic Heliski’s traditional Alaskan lodge. This seven-room building features double occupancy rooms, with singles available for an additional charge. While at the lodge, you’ll have plenty of activities and amenities to keep yourself, and your party busy. These include:
- Hot tub access
- Nordic skiing
- Skeet shooting
- Yoga
- Snow biking
- Massage therapy (for an additional charge)
In addition, if you have family members with you that are not heli skiing, custom package deals can be made for them. They’ll have access to high-speed fiber internet should they need to catch up on work, or just enjoy some streaming.
As far as food and drinks go, you’ll have a continental breakfast prepared every morning, an in-the-field packed lunch, and a gourmet dinner featuring fresh protein, vegetables, and handmade desserts. A full-service bar is always available after a long day.
Situated between the Talkeetna and Chugach Mountains, skiers will find iconic Alaskan glacial heli skiing that’s seen in films. Elevations range from 2,500 to 10,000 feet, meaning there’s lots of vertical to be experienced – without the altitude sickness. There are very few trees at these elevations, so most of your journey will be spent descending various terrain features like steeps, chutes, and open bowls. When snowpack and terrain conditions allow, guides will bring you to increasingly steep and demanding terrain to test your physical limits.
Despite the intensity of Alaskan skiing, intermediates and those who have never heli skied before are more than welcome. With that being said, expert and advanced-level skiers will get the most out of the experience.
Whether you’re just in Alaska for a day, or you’ve got a whole week to enjoy the landscape, Majestic Heli Skiing Alaska has a package for you. All flights happen aboard an A-Star helicopter, which you will share with three other skiers, one guide, and a pilot. All packages include the appropriate avalanche gear, and powder skis/boards.
Package options include:
- One Day: With six guaranteed runs, the one-day package can only be booked within one month of the day of skiing. Availability is based on the current seats available. Transportation to and from the lodge must be arranged individually.
- Two - Seven Days: If you’re interested in a longer stay, these packages are for you. Food and lodging are included with these packages, along with vertical guarantees. Two-day packages feature 20,000 vertical feet, and seven-day packages feature 90,000. Should these not be met, refunds or credits are issued. Cat-skiing is not available as a down-day activity.
- Private: Available in week-long time slots, you’ll experience up to 15 Hobbs hours of flight time and a minimum of 2 guides, in addition to other package accommodations.
