Alyeska Heli Skiing
Alyeska Ski Resort is a household name for resident skiers of Alaska and visitors alike. Often regarded as the best (and biggest) ski resort in The Last Frontier, Alyeska truly has something for everyone. While the mountain may be best known for its on and off-piste skiing, more extreme excursions like heliskiing and snowcat skiing are available.
If you’re interested in turning your resort vacation into an unforgettable experience, consider Alyeska Heli Skiing. Facilitated by top operator Chugach Powder Guides in Girdwood, you’re guaranteed to receive a skilled team of guides and access to breathtaking lines.
Facts & FAQ
Compared to other more remote heliskiing operators, Alyeska is extraordinarily convenient. Skiers will first fly into Anchorage International Airport, located about an hour West of Alyeska Resort. From here, Alyeska will arrange a shuttle to Girdwood if you’re booking one of their multi-day trips.
If you’re planning on doing a single-day excursion, transportation will need to be arranged. You can either rent a car or take a train via the Alaska Railroad.
Alyeska Heli Skiing takes place in a 750,000-acre tenure of the Western Chugachs. Chugach Powder Guides operates right out of Girdwood, allowing you quick and easy transportation to the surrounding peaks. This region of Alaska receives 650 inches of annual snowfall, making it one of the most consistently deep powder skiing destinations in the world.
Chugach Powder Guides is predominantly staffed by local guides who know the intricacies of the area inside and out. They understand that you’re coming to Alaska to ski big, and they make sure that can happen – as safely as possible. Their tenure incorporates all the terrain features of your dreams. From steep, highly technical alpine runs and death-defying couloirs, spines, and chutes to gentle powder bowls and pillow lines, there is no doubt that you’ll find the white gold you came looking for.
