Northern Escape Heliskiing at the Skeena Spey Riverside Wilderness & Lodge
A Lodge that is originally famous for accommodating the pursuit of world-class steelhead (something the Skeena River is famous for), this Lodge is the latest addition to the Northern Escape portfolio and provides skiers with an exclusive private experience. It boasts authentic accommodations that are hard to find with any other operator.
If the idea of sharing your heliskiing experience with a group of strangers sounds unbearable, or you have a small group that you simply want to relax with in privacy, the Skeena Spey Riverside Wilderness & Lodge is the exclusive destination that you’ll want to book.
Facts & FAQs
The Skeena Spey Riverside Wilderness & Lodge is quite remote, but that doesn’t mean that getting there is overly difficult. Skiers will first fly to Vancouver International Airport from one of the many connecting airports across North America. Once there, you’ll need to take a connecting, non-stop flight to Terrace British Columbia. After this stage, Northern Escape handles the rest and coordinates a helicopter transfer directly to the Lodge from Northwest Terrace Regional Airport.
Being that the transfer is via helicopter, you’ll need to be mindful of what you pack. Extra heavy bags are not allowed, and it’s recommended that you just pack a duffel bag and take your boots as carry-on.
The Northern Escape Heliskiing Skeena Spey River Wilderness & Lodge only supports four to five skiers at a time and has a 2:1 staff-to-guest ratio. So this is a classic private booking. This ensures that you’ll be well cared for throughout your entire stay and allows you to customize your experience to your liking. When you’re done ripping up the backcountry, you’ll be able to come home and enjoy some classic heli skiing luxuries:
- Concierge Service
- Hot tub
- Sauna
- High-Speed Wifi
- Single Room Occupancy
- Gourmet Meals And Non-Alcoholic Beverages
- Dedicated Massage Therapist
- Red Seal Chef
- Private Bar Staff
- Airport Transfers From Terrace Airport
The Skeena Mountains where Northern Escape operates are relatively untouched compared to ranges like the Selkirks and Monashees. Because of this, there are countless unnamed runs looking for first descents. Northern Escape has named over 250 runs in its 12 region tenure, but is always looking to add more to its portfolio.
In general, you just need to be a strong skier to conquer the deep powder that’s available here. As a private heliskiing package, if you’re up to par with the rest of the group you’ll do just fine. Terrain features range from 7,000-foot glacial peaks to beautiful tree runs at lower elevations.
The Northern Escape Heliskiing Skeena Spey River Wilderness & Lodge features the Private Package, carefully designed to meet the needs of you and four other skiers. You’ll be flying a small Koala helicopter, allowing you to reach areas that larger groups cannot. Additionally, you’ll be appointed a concierge service to walk you through the entire booking process. Features of the private package include:
- 2 ACMG-certified guides
- Unlimited vertical with vertical guarantees
- 4, 5, or 7-day packages
- Backup cat skiing with over 7,000 acres of tree terrain
